Female Characters Who Inspire Me
There are many females who inspire me in general but I thought I would write a post about female characters from TV that inspire me – I will do a post later about females in general so stay tuned for that!
I’ve wanted to write this post for quite some time now but I had to have a proper think as to who I wanted to include and why. My reason for doing this is to showcase the different personality traits & approaches to life that some of these girls take, and why I want to adopt them into my life.
Alicia Florrick (The Good Wife)
So she’s a lawyer and immediately that inspires me because of the career I want to pursue but that’s not the only reason I find her incredibly inspiring! Without giving anything away, I admire the way she picked herself up, and threw herself back into her job to protect her family. Yes, she was hit with a devastating family crisis, but was that going to stop her moving forward in her career or being a great mother? No, she knows what she wants and won’t let anything get in the way, but she manages to do this with class and passion.
Samantha Jones (Sex and the City)
Now I’m not saying I agree with every way she goes about doing things in terms of her relationships with certain men, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t inspire me!
I love how she doesn’t care what other people think of her, I love her free spirit, I admire the high level of respect she has for herself. These are traits I want to see more of in myself – I want to care less about what other people think of me and I want to focus more on making sure that I am happy with the person I am
Elle Woods (Legally Blonde)
Elle is not your typical law student – if that wasn’t obvious. But she proves that first impressions don’t always matter and that having other interests doesn’t make you useless or any less smarter than the those around you. Elle shows that if you have a passion for something and you believe in yourself, you will get there!
Blair Waldorf (Gossip Girl)
I don’t wish I was Blair or that I lived in her world but there are certain traits of hers that inspires me. One being that she will fight for what she believes in – as far-fetched as some of the things she’s fighting for are. But it’s a trait to be admired all the same. Blair is highly independent and smart – although a lot of the time she used her cleverness to disadvantage someone else, she always seemed to go about things the “right way” (or right in her world anyway).
Jessica Pearson (Suits)
I’ve saved one of my most inspiring for last. If you don’t know, Jessica is the senior managing partner of the law firm in Suits. Yes, she is a black female and she is at the very top! It doesn’t matter who it is, they will listen to Jessica and do what she tells them. She has respect – I want to earn respect from those around me like Jessica did and just because I’m a female, that no way implies I’m not as capable as anyone else.
Also, she has a very quick wit and from what I’ve seen this can also be very useful – it shows that although you take yourself seriously, people can still talk to you, they can still ask you for advice – you are still very much a human being.
So that’s just some of the female characters from TV and movies that I find inspiring. As I said above, I will be doing some real-life females who inspire me i.e. not those who have these traits written into them.
Let me know in the comments the female characters that inspire you and why – I would love to know!
