My Travel Bucket List – the cities I need to see

My Travel Bucket List – the cities I need to see

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about my future and what I want to do when I graduate next year (what?!), and I’ve decided that I want to do some travelling. Being at uni means travel time is limited, so I want to make a travel bucket list that I can start making my way through when that free time presents itself in my life.

My Kind of Travelling

Kudos to those of you that can take a backpack and stay in hostels – it’s probably more practical. Unfortunately, that’s just not me and will not be how I’m travelling. I don’t want to see 7 places in 14 days – I want to stay somewhere (in a hotel or AirBnb) for a period of time that lets me fully appreciate all there is to offer, even if that is just wondering the streets. Therefore, it will take me a while to get through the list – a lot of saving and planning will be involved but I think that’s half the fun

The Bucket List

More places will probably be added to this but for now, these are my travel goals in life:

OrlandoFlorida: So I’ve already been here (3 times) and may be going on a big family trip in 2020 but I want to do it solo, and visit it many more times. I couldn’t do a list and not include my favourite place.

Australia: I haven’t decided where in Australia I want to go yet, all I know is that it’s a place I’m DYING to see. The only thing putting me off is the journey – I therefore want to save up so I can fly with the fancy chairs that can recline into a bed.

USA: I know I’ve already mentioned Florida, but I want to do various tours of America. I have a list of cities including New York, Boston, Chicago, Nashville, Los Angeles, San Francisco etc – I want to take coasts at a time and try and fit in a few cities each trip. Again, a lot of saving required.

Barcelona, Spain: I visited here when I was on my cruise last summer (if you want to learn more about the cruise ship, click here.) However, we were only there for around 5 hours and I only got to experience the shopping. I want to go back and see more of the sights, the stadium, and explore more shops.

Venice, Italy: I want to visit here purely because it looks STUNNING in pictures!

Prague, Czech Republic: Again, I’ve been seeing pictures on Instagram and Pinterest and it looks right up my street. It looks great for exploring and the perfect location for a city break!

Rome, Italy: I also visited here on the cruise but again, it was for a very short period of time. I want to go back and experience it properly. I’ve seen some pins on Pinterest that show some great “hidden gems” of Rome that I want to see.

That’s all I can think of for now – do you have any places that I should add to my list?

Pin to come back later…

I really want to go to the US and Prague too! I'd love to go back to some places I've visited too like Greece and Italy, but I think I'll start with new places first :) Perrine www.ola-banana.com

I'd love to one day make it to the likes of Los Angeles and San Francisco! Oh and Venice would be the dream. Peru and Cuba are currently top of my list though! <3

Yes, San Francisco too! Fingers crossed we both get there one day! X

I really like this. I went to Venice two years ago solo and it really is beautiful. I stayed on the Lido and travelled using the regular water buses. I paid for a weeks unlimited use and it worked out really well. I recommend Malta too, the history and scenery is amazing. I'm undecided on where to go this year, as I'm going later in the year and I like a little heat x
    • ReplysophierayneAuthor
Ah thank you for the recommendations! I'll definitely keep them in mind. Hmm, yeah that is a tricky one - hope you find somewhere exciting x

I would love to do a tour of America, have you heard of Trek America? It seems like a great way to tour America if you’re on a budget, though I believe you stay in hostels and like you, I am not one for hostels
    • ReplysophierayneAuthor
Yeah I've heard some people mention it! However, like you've said I don't think I could do that type of accommodation - but it would be a great of seeing where you want to go!

    • ReplysophierayneAuthor
Haha, well I'm going to try my best. And I'm glad you enjoyed Australia - haven't came across anyone who hasn't liked it yet

Hopefully you get to tick all of the places of your list! I’d love to visit New York someday, it would be so amazing to do with friends. I’m visitnng Toronto is summer which will be super jam-packed, I’ll get to visit Sephora though which will be wonderful! Zara xx
    • ReplysophierayneAuthor
Fingers crossed I do at some point in my life. Yes, NY with a group of friends would be great - then you could split up and see different things if you're not all on the same boat. And I hope you have a great time in Toronto xx

These are such varied places, it’s amazing. I live in the US and I’ve only been to California and Louisiana, so I might travel the country before going to Europe.
    • ReplysophierayneAuthor
Oh that'll be so much fun! And then at least you won't have too long a flight to see some sights!

These places all sound great! Have you heard of Trek America? It might not be for you if you want a more luxury experience (I don't blame you), but it could help you plan out a route if you want to go along the coast and need some ideas! Becca www.rawrrbecca.co.uk
    • ReplysophierayneAuthor
Yeah I have heard of it, but like you say I'm not sure if it's my cup of tea. But that's definitely a good idea for some places - thanks for the recommendation! x

Aus is one hundred percent on my bucket list - I have always dreamt of travelling round South Asia before heading onto Aus, and I hope to live that dream later this year! 🙊
    • ReplysophierayneAuthor
Ooh yay, that'll be so exciting! If you do get to go, please do a post so I can get some tips of where to go! xx

I'd love to see the Disney park in Orlando one day, but as I don't really travel/want to, I'll probably stick to seeing the one in Paris at least a few more times. I'd love to sample gelato in Italy too 😍 .Hope you manage to get everywhere on this list one day 😊 Amy xx
    • ReplysophierayneAuthor
Thanks Amy! Yeah I've heard the one in Paris is also great - I'm sure it will satisfy your Disney needs until you can maybe go to Orlando one day! x

Loved this! Prague and Rome is definitely up there on my list too! I went to Venice last year and it's spectacular (although expensive), but definitely go if you get the chance! xx Em // http://emilybecca.com
    • ReplysophierayneAuthor
Yeah, I think Venice might be pretty similar to Amsterdam (I was there a couple of years ago), it was quite expensive too. But if you've got to see it then you've got to see it haha!

I love this post. There’s so many wonderful places you’ve noted down that would be absolutely amazing to visit. I’ve been to Disney Land but I was a lot younger but I can remember absolutely loving it. As well as New York, that city is something else!
    • ReplysophierayneAuthor
I can't wait to start marking my way down the list - I hope it's sooner rather than later!
